Bibbidi Bobbidi YOU: The Effects of Disney Princesses on Children and Childhood Development
Abstract
This thesis examines the role of Disney Princess media in childhood. The implications of this topic can concern some parents as Disney Princesses are known to affect young girls’ body image as well as their views on love, romance, and relationships. This research hopes to prove that for the most part, these impacts are not as catastrophic as one may initially think. The separate mediums explored childhood development and how Disney movies can influence a child’s views of the world because of the content portrayed in the films as well as the lasting effects they can have as children merge into adults.
